Drake Relays

Today is the day I normally take the afternoon off with my kids and go to the Drake Relays. The Relays is one of the largest, most prestigious outdoor track meets in the country and has a long tradition in the community. Since I am I Drake grad, I feel even more loyal to the event.

I won't be able to go today, but Chelsey and I are going to see the steeple chase race tomorrow. She saw it last year for the first time and wants to run it herself someday. The photo is of the "Big Blue Oval," Drake's track. It is an awesome sight to see.

Go Zach Go!

I had a great plan this afternoon. I was going to turn on the TV to something boring for some background noise so I could get some work done. Little did I know that I would be watching an exciting Master's Golf tournament, and that Zach Johnson would be winning. Johnson attended my alma mater, Drake University.

During his Master's jacket ceremony (a little too emotional if you ask me, but what do I know about golf), Johnson won some points with the good ole' boys at the Master's Club when he gave credit to his wife for giving birth to his son, who was out on the links when he won.

Now if the good ole' boys would open up membership on that course to women...oh, dare to dream.

I'm happy for Zach and....GO BULLDOGS!
